Reaction Challenge: learn through an example

Read the aim of Reaction Challenge, then make your first move. Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Give this approach a try

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Keep the objective visible.

What counts as success

Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Making your moves

  1. Start a round and wait without clicking.
  2. When GO appears, click or tap the large target.
  3. Read your response time and start the next round.
  4. After five rounds, the game shows the mean time.

Making selections and moves

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

Work through an example

A valid 250 ms response counts. Clicking during WAIT is too early and must be repeated. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

Browser scheduling, screen refresh and input hardware can affect the measurement. It is not a medical test. Check the rule before repeating the action. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
