Samurai Sudoku: rules and examples

Bring your attention to one round of Samurai Sudoku. Complete five overlapping Sudoku boards. Every shared cell must satisfy both boards that use it. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Check the rule that explains your first action. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

This collection contains 4 puzzles. Progress is saved in this browser. The same puzzle can appear again; the collection is not labelled with calibrated difficulty levels.

Try a more deliberate round

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Keep the objective visible.

What the game asks you to do

Complete five overlapping Sudoku boards. Every shared cell must satisfy both boards that use it. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Notice how the game responds to your input.

The order of play

  1. Select an editable cell.
  2. Enter a value using the keypad or keyboard; Notes stores candidates.
  3. Read the region, cage, arrow or outside clues alongside the normal constraints.
  4. Check entries verifies the completed board; Undo reverses your last input.
  5. New puzzle selects another included puzzle.

Getting comfortable with the controls

Click or tap cells and the digit pad. Use Notes, Undo and Reveal selected. Large boards scroll inside the game. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

Learn from a sample situation

One value entered in an overlap serves two boards, so check the corresponding rows, columns and boxes of both. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

A full board must obey every extra rule. Reveal supplies assistance; it is not an earned deduction. Compare the situation with the worked example. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
